How to get involved:

  1. View the Volunteer Needs page, or read the volunteer newsletter, Dig In! to see some of the volunteer opportunities available.
  2. Complete a volunteer application. (Can be downloaded from this page. See below.)
  3. Schedule an interview.  We want to match your skills and interests to the position requirements.   You'll find out about the Garden, the many different things we do, and what schedules are available.  
  4. Depending on the volunteer opportunity you choose, you may have an additional orientation in the specific department where you will be volunteering. 

Application

Please download and print out an application to become an adult volunteer (age 18 and up) or a junior volunteer (ages 14-17).  Families are welcome to volunteer together; the youngest family member must be at least 10 years old.  Volunteers younger than 14 years old are required to work along side a parent or guardian.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to work without a parent in the Gift Shop, Library, or in the Horticulture Department.

Volunteer Guidelines
  • The following guidelines are some of the requirements for volunteering at the Garden.
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Work well with staff and other volunteers
  • Able to work alone or with the public, depending upon the volunteer assignment
  • If a family volunteers together, the youngest family member must be at least 10 years old
  • Volunteers working on their own must be 14 years of age or greater at the time of the volunteer application. (Volunteers 14-17 years old must have a parent's permission to volunteer).
  • Must appreciate the outdoors and the public
